Dr. Smetanka with students in Astronomy Laboratory - Spring 2001
Since the student-faculty ratio is very small at St. Vincent College, students are often able to work closely with faculty both in and out of class. In addition to the Astromony course, students design, develop, and run regular planetarium shows for the general public. These shows are developed under the watchful eye of assistant professor John Smetanka, Ph. D. The students are able to make full use of the capabilities of the physics department planetarium, located in the science center commons.
