PH 108: Our Dynamic Planet
``This seminar studies the ever-changing earth, our home in space, from an Earth's systems perspective. Three topics in particular are investigated in detail: plate tectonics, the development of life and its evolution, and global climate change. Scientific issues such as the determination of the age of the earth, biological evolution, the mass extinction of the dinosaurs, and the emission of greenhouse gases causing global warming will be examined. Students will also explore how the scientific study of the earth impacts public policy. PH 108 is designed to give an overview of the scientific process and is targeted to fulfill the objectives of a Tier 1 natural science course for non-science majors.''
